Feral Wights are not affected by daylight and can run after players at any time. They are also taller and much stronger than most zombies. Due to their strength, they pose a great threat to player built structures, and will tear down a wall with great speed.

Upon death, a Feral wight has the chance to have weapon schematics, military gear, or powerful weapon parts. It can also drop fully assembled sniper rifles and SMGs.

An Infected police officer is a special type of sombie typically found in cities, suburbs, and wastelands, 1 to 2 of them can also spawn in the solice station. They are known for having very high health, and their ability to destroy blocks with their acidic vomit. They are easy to spot. They move slowly, but the acid can reach long distances. Infected police officers make burps and gurgles, as well as various puking sounds when fighting players.

Once an Infected Police Officer reaches low health, they will sprint towards the player in an attempt to take them down. If they reach the player they will attempt to explode, dealing massive damage to blocks and almost always killing the player in the process if they are within range of 5 blocks.

Infected police officers are relatively slow. Also similarly at night, they run slightly slower than average zombies. Several can be encountered in the later day 7 hordes as well as screamer hordes. Once they target a player, an Infected police officer will constantly puke in the players general direction. Initially this attack does not deal much damage to the player on contact, but when used consistently enough it can easily lead to death as well as destroy any structures and the ground around it. It is recommended to constantly keep moving.

When they are near death, they will suddenly sprint towards the player in an attempt to kill them. If they get close enough they will explode, almost always resulting in the player’s death and causing massive block damage to the surrounding area. Pay close attention to the movement of this zombie because in this mode they can sprint even in the daylight, so always try to kill them before they detonate. Keeping a large distance from this zombie is highly recommended, otherwise close-combat can lead to an explosion and the players death.

In large groups of zombies you should kill these first to rise your changes to survive. Finally, if engaging in combat with this zombie make sure to stay away from any type of vehicle, because cars and other potentially explosive objects will detonate if they get splattered with vomit. Staying behind safe cover to reload or avoid vomit is effective. Single headshot with bow kills him.

The Screamer is a special type of zombie that appears and investigates sources of player activity, referred to as heat levels. Screamer can be easily identified by their signature white dress, long black hair, and high-pitched shrieks and hisses. They are also shorter than average zombies, and can occasionally be difficult to spot when behind cover. They can summon small hordes. They can summon hordes of zombies in every 20 seconds. You should kill this one first if you get haunted by it.

When screamer finds target, it will start to scream and spawn zombies. These small hordes can also contain much more dangerous zombie variants such as zombie dogs, spider zombies, infected police officers, feral zombies, and zombie bears.

Screamers will try to find players by finding high heat levels. If the source is inside of base they may attempt to break inside in order to investigate. It is recommended that all activities that generate heat such as using a campfire or forge, should be stopped immediately if a Screamer is heard close by. Screamers also have the ability to sense heat through the amount of zombie corpses littered around the area. Clean up all remains of zombies or dead animals to avoid running into them by surprise.

Screamers are typically slow, and shorter than the average zombie. If spotted, they should be approached with caution. Easy method is to pick them off from a distance before they ever get a chance to scream. If stealth is not an option, a recommended method is to use a firearm in an attempt to score a headshot, as they have low health and predictable movement patterns during the day.

Screamers have the ability to sprint at night. This can make them a difficult target because of their small size. Screamer zombies also have a low chance of summoning additional Screamer zombies. This creates the danger of numerous, large, never-ending hordes that continuously spawn. This puts pressure on the player to dispatch the screamers as soon as possible, because both will continuously start spawning hordes.

It can drop junk, rotten food, water bottles, canned food, painkillers, ammo and pistol.

I will include spider zombie here, because it behaves like spider, but is human zombie.

The spider zombie is a special type of zombie encountered in military bases, cities and during night hordes. They are distinguished by their signature walk pattern, blackened hands and feet, and various loud shrieks. The spider zombie will typically announce it is presence with continuous loud shrieking and various clicking noises and hisses. Typically a player will easily hear them long before they are actually spotted.

This zombie’s special ability allows it to scale most walls and therefore overcome simple defenses. It is recommended to build an overhang as this will prevent them from getting on the rooftop of a base.

It might drop junk, clothes, hazmat gear, quest challenge, treasure map and facial piercings.

The Zombie Bear is a hostile animal that will attack the player and other animals on sight. Zombie bear might be the hardest zombies, usually when you see one attacking you, you are already dead. Upon killing a Zombie Bear a player is able to skin the animal and retrieve Animal Hide, Animal Fat and Large Bones.

It is most effective to aim at and shoot the head of the animal. Ranged weapons are highly recommended. Zombie bears are one of the most dangerous enemies in game with hit points comparable to feral zombies. Zombie bears have a very high damage output and can easily wipe out unsuspecting players who stray too far from the regular roads of Navezgane. Zombie bears do weigh a lot and have been observed causing the floor to break in wooden houses, this gives players a chance to kill the animal from over the gap.

The Shotgun is an ideal weapon for dealing with Zombie Bears, especially if the Zombie Bear has managed to sneak up on the player or get within striking distance. Shots from the shotgun will cause the animal to become slow and allowing a player to more easily shoot at the head with other ranged weapons, or run. Screamer zombies can also spawn them later in the game.

Zombie dogs are typically encountered in wastelands and cities. Unlike most zombies, their movement speed is unaffected by daylight and they can outrun the player. Zombie dogs typically announce their presence with low growling and loud barking, but can also surprise players without making a sound.

A Zombie dog’s running speed is much faster than the player’s running speed, basically the chase will end when other is dead. Zombie dogs will usually travel in packs. They also have a high chance of inflicting bleeding, which can kill a player quickly even after they are dead. They have a habit of occasionally sneaking up on players. If they sense a player they will wander slowly closer to their position unless the player moves out of the area completely or is forced to kill them. Attacking a zombie dog’s head is more effective than attacking its body, because of their speed this can be difficult.

Zombie dogs attack in large packs on every fifth day. This type of horde does not sense players through walls. If a player is inside a building and is silent and out of sight, the horde will sometimes pass.

A zombie vulture is a hostile type of zombie animal in the game. They make loud screeching noises. Zombie vultures move slowly, tending to fly high over streets and occasionally swooping down. They can be found anywhere in the world.

Zombie vultures attack with straight-forward dives and slow, circular strafing maneuver close to the player. They often infect the player with a successful attack.

The Wolf attacks when the player gets too close or attacks the Wolf. When killing a wolf player is able to harvest the animal and retrieve raw meat, animal hide, animal fat and large bones. They are found in the Forest, Plains and Snowy Forest biomes. Wolves can be part of random or dog horde.

It is hostile and will attack player when approached. It is larger version of normal wolf and has pure dark coat. They are hard to see at night, but easy at day. Possible drops are animal fat, raw meat, animal hide and large bones. It attacks like normal wolf, go too close and you have a fight. It will also attack zombies. It also can smell meat that player is carrying.

They may attack in packs and in hordes with normal wolves.

Zombies move slowly and are easier to kill in the day than night. When night comes around, they start to run. Once a zombie senses or begins hunting a player, they will generally move in a straight line towards the player. Feral wights, infected police officers, plagued nurses, and bloated walkers drop the best loot. Rest of the zombies all have a chance to drop any recipe book.

Zombies move slowly during the day and will not chase after you if the player stays far enough away. They will mostly stay idle around their position. At night time zombies start running and wandering around. They will attempt to detect survivors at night using smell, sight and light. Zombies will try to occupy the space directly above or below the players’ location. If the feral difficulty is enabled, zombies will be this aggressive at both day and night, and can also detect a player through walls at night.

During the night, zombies appear to be more active the closer a player is. For example, if a player stands directly on top of a wall, no matter the material, the zombies will destroy the blocks in the wall. If the player is standing in the middle of a room and is 15 or more blocks away from all the walls, zombies will not consentrate in one spot to destroy the wall and it will take them much longer. Larger bases are usually more effective than smaller bases. Any zombie will not notice versions of hatches and or wooden poles. This is very useful for long pits to trap. Zombies can and will climb ladders. Crawler is the only one that can not climb ladders.

All zombies have a single style of attack, which is a melee swipe, slash or punch, with the exception of the infected police officer. All attacks have a chance of causing an infection, stun or bleeding. Melee combat against zombies is simple, aim for the head and walk in and out between strikes. Against a horde, this can lead the player to being surrounded with zombies which can be extremely dangerous. Melee combat with zombies should be avoided at all cost as a single stun, bleed, or infection will most likely be fatal.

Sometimes it is good idea to use melee attack, if there is not that many zombies around and you are carefull that might be the best way, since gunshots can lure more zombies to you. Against hordes or when safety is of the ultimate priority, guns are the safest in this regard. The wooden bow is an excellent choice for fighting zombies as both it and arrows are easy and inexpensive to craft and it makes little to no noise. Headshots, with any weapon does the most damage to zombies.

The stealth system can be used to avoid zombies. Crouching by default Ctrl key makes less noise while moving and searching. It is slower than walking in the downside. Zombies will detect a player if the player is in their line of sight, or external factors have drawn their attention for example making noise. Sneaking while scavenging has a greater chance of going undetected. The crossbow and wooden bow can be used for stealth kills without drawing much attention from other zombies and both get double damage from stealth shooting. This can kill some hard zombies with just 1 headshot.

Some attacks will stun zombies, after they fall to their knees or to the ground. Attacking stunned zombies will give a stun bonus of 3 times the normal damage. Allways take shots when a zombie is stunned, it will make the kill faster and save you ammo. This feature also means that zombies the player believed dead may stand up again and keep fighting. Player should always check if the zombie is lootable as that means that it is dead. Some objects such as small stones and empty cans can be thrown to create a distraction or to lure zombies to other areas.

Generally a base is never perfectly safe from zombies. Repairs are a normal duty. Fixing blocks, replacing traps and more. Even the most fortified bases can fail when under siege by wave after wave of zombies, remarkably during the 7-Day hordes.

Under here is tips to improve your base and survive longer.

[1]Use traps. Static traps offer two options. Wood spikes or wood log spikes. Other forms of traps include land mines or pitfalls, these take a lot effort to make though. Wood Log Spikes can now be upgraded all the way to a fourth stage of steel.

[2]Build walls at least two block higher than the zombies can jump to prevent them from breaking an upper block on a two-high wall and jumping over it. Good height would be at least 3 blocks high wall. Wood log spikes underneath an overhang are a strong defense design. Build double layer walls to rely on more than one layer of defenses.

[3]Repair the base frequiently. It is wise for a player to always check for damages whenever possible. The claw hammer, wrench, nailgun, and stone axe can all repair broken or damaged blocks. Most blocks can be upgraded. Allow visual sight of your entrance from inside your base. This is most commonly achieved by having a balcony or a roof access. This makes it possible for a player to shoot at zombies while remaining safe.

[4]Have a way to attack the zombies through your defenses where they can not attack you. Whether by Wood Spikes or Wood Log Spikes, a high wall with a direct line of sight, or Iron Bars inset into the walls, you need a way to clear out large numbers of zombies safely.

[5]Moats and ditches. These take time and planning to build and as such should only be attempted when a base has other defenses as well. Combined with spike traps these are very effective defenses. If building near water the banks of the water body will cause problems for the ditch. Note having a moat or ditch requires strong defenses at the bridge of your moat since this is the easiest access point.

[6]Escape routes. Base should have an easy access escape route that zombies or other players cannot enter. One suggestion would be to build a tunnel out of the base and then block up the entrance with one layer of Dirt. An escape kit can be maintained near the exit to the passage so that it is possible to survive until your base can be reoccupied food, bottled water, medicines, and weapons are recommended.

[7]Underground bases can take quite a long time to make and require the player to have pre-existing resources. They are really effective protection from zombies and other players.

Zombies also have no regards for their own safety and will attempt to charge even through spikes and other stuff.

Fall damage for any zombie at any height will only reduce its health by half and will stun the zombie and making it vulnerable to double damage while stunned.

Thanks to you for reading this guide. I hope it helped you and you now know how to deal with different zombies.
